“Natural England is here to conserve and enhance the natural environment, for its intrinsic value, the well being and enjoyment of people and the economic prosperity that it brings” Provizion First Architecture is pleased to have been involved with Natural England on the design and construction of National Nature Reserve Workbases at Saltfleetby, Lincolnshire and Lower Derwent Valley, Wheldrake, York. The Saltfleetby and Lower Derwent Valley NNRs are part of a series of 223 National Nature Reserves, which extend to some 91,000 hectares in all, of which approximately 62,000 hectares are owned or leased, and directly managed, by Natural England. Natural England constructs purpose-built workbases, as and where necessary, in order to ensure proper facilities for the appropriate management of these internationally important sites and to accommodate staff, machinery and equipment. On occasions, certain of the facilities are made available for the use of local schools and wildlife groups who have an interest in the Reserve. In view of Natural England’s wider remit, these developments also incorporate such items as barn owl / kestrel boxes, bat boxes / roost sites, house martin / swift and tree sparrow nesting boxes etc. |
