Proposed New Junior School

Education

The Read School, Drax, Selby

The Read School has been a predominant feature of the ancient North Yorkshire village of Drax for well over 300 years, having been the centre of education for boys of Selby and Goole throughout that time. The main school site, located at the northern edge of the village, houses the Senior School, the Sixth Form and Upper Junior School, whilst the Girls' Boarding House and Lower Junior School are currently situated at Adamson House, approximately one mile away on the western fringe of the village.

Over the past few years, Provizion First has provided architectural services in connection with several projects at The Read School including a new Creative Arts Centre and an extension to the Humanities and English Departments, whilst full Planning Permission has recently been secured for a new Junior School on the main site.

A further planning application has been submitted, and is currently under consideration by Selby District Council, for the development of the Adamson House site as a 14 unit residential scheme.
